Long weekend

Aloha: My wife and her brother and brother's friend, my oldest, her significant other and who knows who else will be going to Ka Lae for the long weekend. I will be going to Manuel's house with Anakam, Topher, CJ, Kohala sister and my B-I-L, and others. You can see Hilo Bay from Manuel's house so it is a nice place to watch the fireworks for the $th of July.

It is now official.....the joker won the Senate seat from Minnesota. When the sitting Senator gave up the race he told the winner that the best part of the job is representing the people in the Senate. Proof positive that these politicians have no idea on what they are doing in Washington. The members of the Senate are not the representatives of the people. They are the representative of the state and are the defenders of the 10th amendment of the Constitution of the United States. It took an amendment to the Constitution to allow the people of the states to vote for their states' Senators.

It was a bright and sunny morning today, but cloudy and dark this afternoon.

The volcano report is SOS.

Take care and be Good. May God bless you all and may God bless America.

Mind control.

Aloha: I tried a $600 diet and now I am going to try mind control. I know what has to be done, probably better than most doctors, but lack the will power to lose the weight I have too. On my oldest child's birthday I will go under the hypnotist's spell to lose the 6o pounds to get where I need to be.

How about the nominee to the SCOTUS with race issues being overturned by the SCOTUS. On a race issue no less. This country is in way deep, and the elephants and jackasses just keep adding to the pile. POTUS and COTUS just keep shoveling, unfortunately, in the wrong direction.

I am in Hilo today as Topher and Anakam both work today. I think that Topher will be off for the rest of the week so it looks like I will not be needed for sitting. I will find out when Topher gets home today.

The weather in Volcano was beautiful when we left this morning. Other than an earthquake on Maui the volcano report is SOS.

Take care and be good. God bless.

Weather & Volcano SOS

Aloha: Today's title says it all. Anakam and Topher are going to go to the "movies" tomorrow so I get to play with CJ.

God bless and be good to each other.

What's new with you.

Aloha: A reader sent me an e-mail asking what is the "PT" I made mention of in one of the previous posts. PT is physical therapy. I go to unpinch a nerve in my lower back.

I do not claim to understand how my brain works, but for some reason I just started to think about while in the Navy (February 16, 1966 - October 24, 1969: 3 years, 8 months and 8 days) I used to watch bullfighting from Mexico on TV. I do not know why that just popped into my mind.

Yesterday was wet, last night was wet, this morning it looked like more of the same and. presto, it cleared up and it is a bright and sunny day.

SOS on the volcano watch.

God loves to all of you and take care.

pchwow.com

Aloha: Have you seen the ads on TV that you can win $100,000 a week for a year? It is from our old friend "Publishers Clearing House". Have any of you ever gone to their website to register for all that money? Years ago I tried to register and after about 20 minutes of checking the boxes that said I did not want anything I just gave up and clicked on the "x" and got out of there. Well, guess what. I tried again, and the results were the same. Page after page of "item" I have no interest in that have to be "skipped" and then a "I noticed you have not ordered anything." page. The "x" at the top of the page came in handy again. I really wonder how long it would take to finish their process. Auwe, I guess I will not fund the rest of my retirement from PCH.

Today is a day that God decided to water the plants. Believe it or not I really do not mind the rain all that much. The wind is calm and the webcam at HVO shows it to be a foggy day at the park.

The report is again SOS. Miner changes that would be interesting if I were being paid to think so. Checked the webcams last night and the glow was quite beautiful. If you have never seen an eruption the view would be viewed as great.

Take care and be good to each other. May God bless and keep all of you and may God bless America.

Happy Summer

Aloha: Happy Summer!!!! Today is the first day of summer. To all you dads out in bloggerland I wish you a very "Happy Fathers Day". Last night the wife and I went out with a friend of my wife's, my brother-in-law and his lady friend. Boy can those women drink. My wife and her friend, no joke, got the box of index cards that the bar keep uses to make her drinks and made a list of what they wanted to drink. before the night was through they had tried all of the drinks on their list. This time was a little different then the last time, no shots between drinks.

Today started out bright, sunny and clear. Now, at noon, it is overcast. There is a nice breeze so it gets rather cool in the shade.

Our volcano is just doing its thing. The reports this morning are all SOS.

Topher is not working this week so it looks like I will not be sitting this week. I tried to get an appointment for PT this past week, but no luck. I will have to call on Monday to get an appointment.

Sorry, no joke today. I go to a website called "Slightly Warped" to get my jokes and this weeks jokes were rather raunchy.

Be good to each other and may God bless us all.

Misconception

Aloha: Just as the single woman having a baby can be said to be laboring under a misconception, one of my readers is also laboring under a misconception. The work that was done, was done on the road and not on a lot. It sounded like there was clearing going on on the lot next door, but no work was found. I am sorry I did not make that clear.

Weather today is wet and dark. The volcano report is SOS. The tickle monster is going to Hilo tomorrow to attack a special 3-year old.

God bless and take care.

Drug store

Aloha: I have, for years, used Long's Drugs for all my prescriptions. The last few times I went to get my meds, instead of the normal 90 pills I only got 30. I have to take about 8 pills a day and have worked out a system where I pick up 2 or 3 a month. Now that CVS has taken over Long's I will have to go get my meds about 3 times a month since I do not run out of all my meds at the same day each month. I am really thinking of going to a different Drug store as it is out of my way to go to Long's in Hilo. Those of you who live on the Hilo side of the Big Island: where do you go and are you pleased with the service you are getting?

On the last post a question was asked about the lot next door. As far as I can see nothing has been done except what the front-end loader guy did; That is make a mess of the road.

It is a sunny day here in Volcano. Very little wind so it is now 70 on the porch. Ten degrees higher in the house. I have to go to Hilo on Friday for a pick up at Long's and I can just imagine what the temp is there. Auwe!!!!!

Our volcano is just doing its thing. Same old stuff. The glow at night is getting weaker and weaker.

May God bless all of you and may He bless America.

Another day; another post.

Aloha: Well, here I am up in volcano. The day started out dark and wet, but now it is bright and sunny. The temperature is on the rise and it is getting warm. It is now 64 out on the porch and 74 in the house.

The volcano is doing its thing. Not much to report today. The Myna birds are making a racket outside as they raid the "old dog's" food. They sure make a mess. they like to toss the food out of the dog's dish all over the porch then sit on the porch railing and poop all over the place.

Lucky you, that is it for today. God bless and take care.

A lot of money.

Aloha: I read something a few days ago and just heard on the news about a huge sum of money. It seems that two Japanese men were stopped by Italian police when they tried to cross into Switzerland. They had, in their suitcase, US government bonds with a total value of, are you ready, $134.5 Billion. That is right, with a B. Most of the bonds were $500,000,000 each. There were a few that were worth $1,000,000,000 each. Usually bonds of that denomination are used between governments. As far as I know the guys are not talking, and no one knows if the bonds are extremely good fakes or if they are real. Either way is not good for the USA. Unnamed sources claim that some of the bonds were issued in 1934.

The guy with the front-end loader sure made a mess of "our" road. Now it is a muddy mess.

The weather today is fantastic. The volcano report is SOS.

God bless and take care.

Try a joke.

Aloha: Question. Should I post a joke of the week? How about this one.

$50 For the Homeless
I recently asked my friend's little girl what she wanted to be when she grows up. She said she wanted to be president some day. Both of her parents, liberal Democrats, were standing there, so I asked her, "If you were president what would be the first thing you would do?" She replied, "I'd give food and houses to all the homeless people. "Her parents beamed." Wow... what a worthy goal." I told her, "But you don't have to wait until you're president to do that. You can come over to my house and mow the lawn, pull weeds, and sweep my yard, and I'll pay you $50. Then I'll take you over to the grocery store where homeless guys hang out, and you can give them the $50, you earned, to use toward food and a new house." She thought that over for a few seconds, then she looked me straight in the eye and asked, "Why doesn't the homeless guy come over and do the work, and you can just pay him the $50?" I said, "Welcome to the Republican Party." Her parents still aren't speaking to me.

I do not know what is happening next door. There is a front end loader that is being used as a bulldozer and is working on the road. Chain saws and weed whackers going full blast in the woods. I hate to say it but I hope the owners are not going to build on that lot. I can see the time coming when we will not be able to "pee" in the woods as there will be too many houses all around.

Today is a lazy, lazy day. It is a bright but cloudy day. All in all a great day to be alive. The Volcano is doing its thing. Tremor has not made up its mind and is up, than down. I saw glow on the webcams last night. The one looking over the vent records light intensity at not, not color, so it is basically black and white. I think the brightest (whitest) part of the picture is the surface of the lava. During the day the camera records color and it is usually just white fume.

God bless and take care.

Snail Mail

Aloha: We all know the difference between e-mail and snail mail. How about this for snail mail. Months ago my wife went to Kaho'olawe. While there she "lost" her cell phone. It really was the HFD's cell phone. She got in touch with the guy in charge of taking care of the place where the workers stay while on Kaho'olawe and he found the cell phone. He mailed it to my wife on April 15th from Maui and we got it yesterday, the 12th on June. Now that is SNAIL MAIL!!!! For those of you who do not live in Hawaii, you can see Maui from the island of Hawaii. Maybe 8 hours by canoe?

Today my wife had to teach some tour operators how to administer O2 because they take tourist up the mountain. (13,000 foot elevation) I think I wrote about going to Kona a while back because she had to teach the same class to a tour company there.

The weather this morning was a little iffy, but it has turned into a glorious day.

Our Volcano is chugging along. Tremor is up and down with the plume turning brown when it goes up and turning wispy when tremor goes down. Oh, did you hear the news! An investigation of the Mount Saint Helens area has turned up a magma reservoir larger than that under Yellowstone. Turns out that Saint Helens is just the tip of a Super Volcano. Back to "our Volcano"; all is SOS.

Take care and may God bless you and may He bless the USA!

South Point

Aloha: Yesterday, King Kamehameha Day, my wife and I, Topher, Anakam, CJ and Ka'iulani spent the day at South Point. Too bad Burida had to work. Without him the gang was not complete. There were quite a few people there. While my wife was fishing a guy approached me and asked where he could go for "cliff jumping". I could understand "cliff diving" at South Point proper, but jumping with a chute and the wind blowing into the cliffs....auwe! For those interested my wife had a very good day fishing! One of the Kupipi she caught is/was the largest I have ever seen.

It was wet when we left Volcano this morning. It is hot in Hilo. I had to come down for a doctor's appointment. My brother, Manuel, has been diagnosed with a clotting disorder that is genetic so I had myself tested and I am clean, so neither of my daughters, or my grandson, need to be tested.

I did not see any glow on the HVO webcam when I checked last night. However the webcam that overlooks the vent showed a strong glow. Tremor is still rising, but is still in the moderate range. All else is SOS.

I got a call from an 800 number the other day. I let it go to voice mail while I googled the number. It is not a popular number. It is from Allstate. If you answer they say that it is a wrong number. I called our Allstate agent and let him know just what people think of this type of telemarketing. I hope they get the message.

Well, take care of each other and may God bless and keep all of you.

Where is everybody?

Aloha: Hey, where is everybody? It has been two weeks since any of the blogs I follow have posted anything. I thought I would get a reaction to Saturdays post but only got two e-mails on it. One agreed with the ideas expressed and the other disagreed. It has been awhile since I got a comment on the blog for everyone to see.

I have not been sitting my mo'opuna lately. Topher has been off so poor me, I am not needed. Now don't you feel sorry for me. Boo Hoo!! I have to go down to Hilo tomorrow for some PT. Then I have to go down on Friday for my regular check-up. Thursday is a Holiday in Hawaii. It is to honor the first king of Hawaii, Kamehameha the first.

The weather is fantastic here in Volcano. The birds are happy and letting everyone know it. The air is clear and so is the sky. It will get warm this afternoon, but not like Hilo.

Tremor is going up slowly at our volcano. (Did you notice that I really do not know when to use a capital V in volcano?) RB2S2BL quakes are at background levels. In other words the Volcano update is SOS.

God bless and take care.

Something different

Aloha: I got this from a reader of my blog. It was e-mailed to me. I am posting it without comment in hope that it will start a discussion.

There was a Pied Piper who said, "We live in the greatest country in the world. Help me change it!" And the people said, "Change is good!' Then he said, "We are going to tax the rich fat-cats." And the people said, "Sock it to them!" Then he said, "and redistribute their wealth." And the people said, "Show me the money!" And then he said, "Redistribution of wealth is good for everybody!" And Joe the plumber said, "Are you kidding me?" And Joe's personal records were hacked and publicized. And one lone reporter asked, "Isn't that Marxist policy?" And she was banished from the kingdom! Then someone asked,"With no foreign relations experience, how will you deal with radical terrorists?" And the Pied Piper said, "Simple. I'll sit down and talk with them and show them how nice we really are and they will forget that they ever wanted to kill us all!" Then the Pied Piper said, "I'll give 95% of you lower taxes." And one, lone voice said,"But 40% of us don't pay ANY taxes!" So the Pied Piper said, "Then I'll give you some of the taxes the fat-cats pay! "And the people said, "Show me the money!" Then the Pied Piper said, "I'll tax your Capital Gains when you sell your homes!" And the people yawned and the slumping housing market collapsed. And he said, "I'll mandate employer- funded health care for EVERY worker and raise the minimum wage." And the people said, "Gimme some of that!" Then he said, "I'll penalize employers who ship jobs overseas. " And the people said, "Where's my rebate check?" Then the Pied Piper actually said, "I'll bankrupt the coal industry and electricity rates will skyrocket!" And the people said, "Coal is dirty, coal is evil, no more coal! But we don't care for that part about higher electric rates." So the Pied Piper said, "Not to worry. If your rebate isn't enough to cover your expenses, we'll bail you out. Just sign up with ACORN and your troubles are over! " Then he said, "illegal immigrants feel scorned and slighted. Let's grant them amnesty, Social Security, free education, free lunches, free medical care, bi-lingual signs and guaranteed housing." And the people said, "Ole! Bravo!" And they made him King! And so it came to pass that employers, facing spiraling costs and ever-higher taxes, raised their prices and laid off workers. Others simply gave up and went out of business and the economy slowed even further. Then the Pied Piper said, "I am the Messiah and I'm here to save you! We'll just print more money so everyone will have enough!" But our foreign trading partners said, "Wait a minute. Your dollar isn't worth what it was. You'll have to pay more." And the people said, "Wait a minute. That's not fair!" And the world said, "Neither are these other, idiotic programs you've embraced. You've become a Socialist state and a second-rate power. Now you'll play by our rules!" And the people said, "What have we done?" But it was too late. If you think this is a fairy tale, open your eyes and ears. It's happening RIGHT NOW!

God bless and take care.

Did you miss me?

Aloha: I must beg your forgiveness for not writing yesterday. I know you all were very disappointed when you looked and did not find my blog. Ha, Ha; that was the joke of the day.

The weather this morning was not conducive to walking, but now it is a glorious day. I had a "come get me" notice at the PO yesterday so I did walk and get Part 1 of my brother's opus on his life. I did not realise that he made copies for my daughters too. Anakam called this morning all excited that Uncle Nabru had sent her a copy.

The glow from the volcano was bright last night when I checked the webcams. Tremor is at moderate levels and everything else is SOS.

My wife has to teach a Red Cross class this weekend. It is a 16 hour class so she will go at it 8 hours Sat and 8 hours on Sun. She will also teach a class next week for several evenings. I have to go for PT on Wed so my poor daughter will have to put up with me for the evening. I believe she will be stuck on Fri also as I have my regular 3 month check-up.

Is anybody keeping tract of the number of "Tsars" the government now has? I think it is at about 15 and still counting.

Be good to each other and may God bless you and may God bless America.

Guess who?

Aloha: If you guessed it is me you are correct. I noticed something this week that bothers me. When "Tiller the baby killer" was shot, the press and both sides of the abortion issue all the way up to the President of the United States were very vocal in condemning the act. Yet when the Army recruiter was shot and killed in Arkansas, not a word! Food for thought.

Last night we went out for dinner to celebrate one of my wife's brother's birthday. It was a surprise for him. He thought it was going to be just his girlfriend, her son, and one of his brothers. (Big family, 4 boys and 3 girls). He did not expect the rest of us. All in all a very pleasant evening.

Today's weather is very nice up here in volcano. Kilauea is doing it's thing and all is right with this part of the world.

That's it for today. God bless you all and do be good to each other.

Back in Hilo today.

Aloha: We have a party to go to tonight so here I am in steamy Hilo. I will have to come back down on Thursday for an evaluation by the Physical Therapist to see if PT will help my friend "Author". He has really been bumming me out lately.

I got a comment on yesterday's blog that sounded like a commercial for a company that makes dog collars. There was a link to a company that makes electronic collars so I am guessing that that is who sent the comment. The ads always say free shipping but surprise surprise, not for Hawaii.

The weather was glorious in Volcano this morning. On the way down we could see the cloud bank over Hilo. It is now clear and humid in Hilo.

The volcano report is SOS except for earthquakes. There has been too many 3.0 ones lately. The glow is bright at night but the plume is very thin. Tephra is up slightly, but not by much.

God bless and be good.

A new month.

Aloha: I am starting the new month with a new mouse. It is a wireless, plug and play optical mouse. It may just be wishful thinking but it sure seems like the whole computer thing is working a lot faster and just plain better.

We went to Petco on Saturday and got a new bark collar for our "porch" dog. He is the one with the big voice that the "lady" down the street does not like. It is called a bark collar but is really an anti-bark collar. It zaps the dog when he barks.

On a heavier note; there is a very interesting article in Pravda today. Quite interesting.

The weather is just ..... words can not describe. The birds are singing, the sun in shinning, the air is clear. On a day like today there is no more beautiful place in the world. A day like today makes me wish I was a poet.

When I checked the volcano webcams last night I could see the glow from the pit within the carter within the caldera called Kilauea. Other than that the report is Same Old Stuff.

May the Good Lord bless and keep all of you safe and sane.
